Vacuum Infusion
Vacuum infusion consists of laying dry fabrics in an open mold. The material is then covered with release film, breather material and a vacuum bag which is sealed around the perimeter of the mold. A vacuum is then between the open mold and the bag where resin is infused at a location where the resin will be able to seep through the fabrics throughout the part.
Resin Transfer Molding (RTM)
Resin transfer molding is also called resin infusion. Fabrics are placed into a mold where wet resin is then injected. Resin is typically pressurized and forced into a cavity which is under vacuum. This molding process allows for precise tolerances and detailed shaping of the parts.
